On Monday, September 9th, Adrienne Gosselin was welcomed aboard the NH Council Board of Directors as our Director of Youth Programs. Adrienne, a Nashua, New Hampshire native, served as the first officer of the deck of the Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Manchester (LCS 14). The photo below left shows her receiving the traditional long glass at the USS Manchester commissioning ceremony in 2018.

The NH Council NLUS along with the City of Manchester is hosting Commander Ralph Lufkin, Commanding Officer, USS Manchester (LCS 14) Blue along with three of his crew members for a visit to their host city, Manchester NH. CDR Lufkin is looking forward to strenghening their ties to the Manchester community as well as with the Manchester West High School Navy Junior ROTC unit. We are honored to serve as the host during this historic visit.

  1. Saturday, Oct. 12
    1. 0900-1200: CDR Ralph Lufkin, Commanding Officer, USS Manchester (LCS 14) Blue crew, will assit the Amoskeag Rowing Club place docks in Pembroke in preparation for the New Hampshire Championships George Dirth Memorial Regatta.
    2. TBD: USS Manchester Enlisted crew members fly in to Manchester airport. The visiting enlisted crew members include: Command Senior Chief Maritza Mejia, Command Senior Enlisted Leader, Engineman 1st Class Samuel Cantrell and Electrian’s Mate 2nd Class Christopher Paul.
    3. 1800-?: Swim with a Mission Board member Jeremy Hitchcock will host the visiting USS Manchester crew members at a local TBD Manchester pub/brewery.
  2. Sunday, Oct. 13
    1. 0600-1200: Pembroke: USS Manchester crew members assist at the New Hampshire Championships George Dirth Memorial Regatta
    2. 1700-2045: Fratello's Manchester Amoskeag Ballroom: 249th US Navy Birthday Dinner featuring guest speaker CDR Ralph Lufkin. CDR Lufkin will provide a presentation on their recent 18-month Western Pacific deployment. Manchester Mayor Ray Ruais will present CDR Lufkin with street signs from the City of Manchester to name the USS Manchester passageways.
  3. Monday, Oct. 14
    1. 1200-1300: Manchester Community College Student Center: CDR Ralph Lufkin, Commanding Officer, USS Manchester (LCS 14) Blue crew, will provide a presentation on their recent 18-month Western Pacific deployment. Kevin Galeaz, President, NH Council, Navy League of the United States will open with an brief overview of the Navy League before introducing CDR Lufkin.   4. Tuesday, Oct 15
    1. 0800-1000: Manchester West High School: CDR Ralph Lufkin will provide a presentation on their recent 18-month Western Pacific deployment to our two NH Naval JROTC units, Manchester West High School NJROTC and Dover High School NJROTC.
    2. 1000-1015: Manchester West High School: US Senator Jeanne Shaheen speaks to the Manchester West and Dover Naval JROTC cadets.
    3. 1015-1045: Manchester West High School: US Senator Jeanne Shaheen meets with the visiting crew from the USS Manchester (LCS 14) Blue. Senator Shaheen is the USS Manchester ships commissioning sponsor.
    4. TBD: Manchester Mayor's Office: Manchester Mayor Ray Ruais meets with the visiting crew members from the USS Manchester (LCS 14) Blue.
    5. TBD: Dancing Lion Chocolate: The USS Manchester crew members will be treated to drinking chocolate at Dancing Lion Chocolate.

The 249th US Navy Birthday Dinner will be held on Sunday, October 13 starting at 1700 at the Fratello's Amoskeag function room in the Manchester Millyard. Guest speakers include the USS Manchester ship's sponsor, US Senator Shaheen (schedule dependent), City of Manchester Mayor Ray Ruais, and CDR Ralph Lufkin, Commander, USS Manchester (LCS 14) Blue.

Join us for this unique celebration to honor not only the birth of the US Navy, but the CO and crew members from Manchester's host ship, the USS Manchester (LCS 14).
